Can I get my event filmed in HD.. ?

Yes, we currently have 3 hd capable cameras and edit with Adobe Premiere Pro CS3. We can produce your event in Blu-ray, DVD or even short HD DVD. Hd DVD format was dropped by Toshiba in May of 2008. Those of you who jumped in and purchased a player are "out of luck" if you are looking for HD content. We can produce short (less than 40 minutes per disk) HD DVD disks and duplicate them on regular DVD-R media. You are limited to a short program, but it is HD DVD.

Where can I find information on the 2007 TOB DVD's?

The 2007 TOB DVD was blocked for sale by NMSU for possible copyright violations by performing bands. All musical and visual performances require that the bands secure all the rights from the composer/arranger and the drill creator. In addition each band must secure recording and synchronization rights to allow for video and audio recording. This could not be verified by NMSU for all bands, therefore a block was placed on all sales. Future production  of TOB events may not be possible.

Why doesn't  My DVD work in my DVD Player?

We produce copies of dvd's on DVD-R recordable disks. We use Verbatum disks because we have found these to be the least troublesome with the fewest returns. Most dvd players made within the last 3 to 5 years will have no trouble playing these disks. However there are still a few dvd players which may not recognize the disk. (I have one) if this happens contact us and we will replace the disk with another brand of blank disk. Some dvd-r disks may not play back in a dvd player that is set up to play progressive scan disks. If the disk stutters and skips a lot, check to see if the dvd player is set to progressive mode. If it is change it to interlaced mode for playback.

How can I get the best from my home video... ?

Most home video suffers from the following 3 bad mistakes:

1. Fire hosing: This is shooting an event the way we naturally observe it with our eyes. Jumping from one subject to another as the action changes kind of the way you try to put out a fire with a garden hose. This type of video makes the audience dizzy and unable to watch. We have all seen this type of production. Slow down, hold the camera steady for at least 7 seconds before moving to the next subject. When moving to the next subject either stop the recording and start again once the subject is framed, or move very slowly to  the next subject in order to maintain a complete audio track. This will greatly improve your home video, and allow people to actually watch it. And remember to pan slowly and start and stop with at least 3 seconds of stationary video.

2. Use a tripod when available. Nothing ruins a good video worse than jumpy jittery video. If you have to shoot hand held, then be sure to concentrate on stabilizing the camera, and shoot only at the wide angle setting.

3. Zoom - Stop zooming so much. Video is best if you frame your shot first using the zoom, then record the scene. Use your zoom for special effects only.  The 'zoom to' should be used to concentrate the audiences attention on a particular subject in the scene. Slow zooms are a must unless you are using the zoom to frame before recording. The zoom back (we call it a pull back) should be used to show a conclusion to  an event.

Upgrade to High Definition video (HDV). We shot our first wedding in HD and produced the DVD on Blu-ray disk in June. There are still a few kinks that we need to work out but the production came out great. This was actually a home video of my oldest daughter's wedding. To view the  HDV samples look for the links in this page.I will post these files in flash format to save space. Because of the size of these files you must have a broadband connection.
